This trip will guide you through the most beautiful salt mine in Europe, Salina Turda, whose existence goes back 2000 years.
Next you’ll get to see one of the most imposing castles of Transylvania, the Corvin’s castle, the old domain of the Hunedoreni family. Built by Iancu de Hunedoara in the 15th century, this castles can easily be compared to other castles from western Europe in terms of size, beauty, historical and architectural value.
Next you will have a walk through the biggest Vauban style fortifications in south-eastern Europe, the Alba Carolina fortress.
This fortress includes 7 star-shaped bastions and it lies on top of 2 other fortifications, the old roman castrum of Appulum and the medieval fortress of Bălgrad.
Here you will see both the oldest and the longest church of Transylvania (the roman-catholic church of St. Michael) and the orthodox cathedral of the Coronation, built in a record timeframe of 1,5 years.
Drive back to Cluj or your accommodation.
